Muskoka Attractions: The Land of Lakes

The Muskoka enchantment lives on. The magic charm of Muskoka leaves people spellbound. The lakes enthral, the rivers captivate and Muskoka simply fascinates. The land of lakes is 1 ½ hours away north of Toronto, Canada. The vast district of 2,500 square miles is bounded on the West by craggy Georgian Bay, the way to the Great Lakes and the Ocean. The densely inhabited area is the Muskoka Lakes Township surrounded by its gems of a lake, namely Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph, and Lake Rosseau. The first of Muskoka attractions are the lakes which have been home to lavish summer estate owners from the United States. Today artists, musicians and craftsmen and a host of permanent residents have decided to leave the hustle bustle of city life to enjoy the developed wilds environment of Muskoka.

As Muskoka’s character as a remedy for urban living increased, so did the magnitude and splendour of the resort hotels. Recently the area has become a hive of tourists of different persuasion, race and denomination. Muskoka attracts. The Bala Cranberry Festival celebrates the folklore while relishing the tastes of the harvest. A Muskoka attraction is the Muskoka Wildlife Centre where a conglomeration of peoples, groups and organizations enjoy walking around, seeing the sights and discovering the marvel of our natural world. A unique wildlife center, not your regular zoo, on the contrary an interactive learning park.

In the year 2007, the Muskoka Music Festival will present the celebrated Canadian “Six String Nation” guitar. This was built by Canadian makers of stringed instruments, with the use of 60 historical relics all over Canada. At the same time, the Flavors of Muskoka continues to show “Amazing Grace” which is another great presentation from the Muskoka Music Festival. Another of Muskoka’s major landmarks is the core of cultural activities, the Gravenhurst Opera House. It is here where several distinguished musical and theatrical performances for the past 100 years were held. The cruise ship Lady Muskoka is another of Muskoka attractions claiming that it is the only way to enjoy the Muskoka tradition. This is the largest capacity cruise ship situated in the heart of Muskoka.
